About VR StrideS
Available in three lengths. Copy buttons use the text exactly as shown.
One-line description 1 line
VR StrideS turns walking and jogging in place into locomotion for compatible PC VR games.
Short description ~50 words
VR StrideS is a companion application for PC VR. It detects walking or jogging in place and converts that motion into movement input that compatible games already recognise. Players cover ground using their own legs instead of relying entirely on a thumbstick. It needs no additional trackers or treadmill.
Full description ~165 words
VR StrideS is PC VR locomotion software that runs on the player’s PC alongside a game. It samples the headset and controllers around 90 times a second, detects whether the player is walking, jogging or running in place, and converts that motion into thumbstick movement input that a compatible game already recognises.
Physical effort maps to virtual speed. A relaxed walk in place moves the player at a modest pace. Reaching the top of a game’s speed range takes a sustained run. An adjustable Effort setting controls how much physical movement a given in-game speed requires. VR StrideS uses the headset and controllers together to determine heading, so a player can travel in one direction while looking in another.
VR StrideS works at the runtime level, so it does not require a dedicated mod for each game. Compatibility still depends on how an individual title handles movement input. A Steam Playtest runs from 20 to 30 August 2026, ahead of the planned November 2026 release.
Key features
- Converts walking and jogging in place into virtual movement.
- Maps physical effort to locomotion speed.
- Uses the headset and controllers together to determine heading.
- An adjustable Effort setting controls how much movement a given in-game speed requires.
- Runs as a PC VR companion application, not a per-game modification.
- Intended to work across compatible games without a dedicated mod for each title.
- Tuned primarily for Meta Quest 3 PC VR setups; compatibility with other headsets varies by configuration.
- A Steam Playtest runs 20–30 August 2026, ahead of the full release.
Real movement becomes VR movement
The player stays on the spot. The game receives the same kind of movement input it would from a thumbstick.
